This was why I was most especially interested in a key aspect of Pitt's work - the values for the decay coefficient. ![]() I have developed the theory that infiltration in the urban context has much more to do with desiccation of the upper foot or two than to the soil properties of the underlying layers. I would be very interested in any results you may achieve as infiltration has been a parameter of considerable concern for me for many years. Has this type of testing been performed to support municipal modeling efforts? Given that the range of parameters for infiltration rate can be expected to be very wide, has anybody developed methods for extrapolating limited test results to a citywide scale? What thoughts do you have on applying the measured parameters to the black box inside a collection system model? Certainly, the data would be more important in suburban areas where the ground is primarily pervious than in the highly impervious urban core, but since a principal focus of the model is runoff modeling for extreme events, the pervious area response is critical to our model's performance.
